Considering Lincoln jailed journalists and banned anti war newspapers, is say yes.

Just because Lincoln did it? Although I think Lincoln was one of our greatest Presidents there are plenty of things the founding fathers would have disagreed with him on.

Just because Lincoln did something doesn't automatically make it admirable

Jefferson hated the press too.

And I never said it was admirable by any stretch. I think our founding fathers had a lot of moral shortfalls. Those shortfalls don't by any stretch denigrate the good they did, but, they did exist.

Jefferson's quotes seems to be pretty torn about the press. He despised dishonesty in the press but was pretty consistent about keeping the "magistrate" out of the press. One could argue that twatter and cuckbook are acting as "magistrates" but I haven't seen any quotes from Jefferson on the press self regulating. Either way, from what I have seen he makes it pretty clear he disagrees with government interference in press, although I'd be interested in seeing if there are quotes I'm overlooking

I should have said "agreeable" rather than "admirable". And I guess that part didn't apply to you, rather the people that had expressed support of the military control over those media companies.
