There is a line of inquiry out there proposing that Benedict was pushed out, but cleverly only resigned the Bishoprich of Rome (one of the Pope’s roles), not the Papal seat. If this is the case, when it is made clear, everything Francis has implemented - Cardinals made etc - will be null and void.

The word on the street was that he’s written something that will be opened on his death, that will reveal it publicly. One can only hope.
