I don't think it was rigged. That was a time period when Stephen Harper and the Conservatives had been in power for a long time and had been involved in numerous corruption scandals and people were fed up with him. At the same time, Justin Trudeau came up. He's the son of a popular former-prime minister, promised a lot of things (legalizing weed, electoral reform) that made people inspired, and there was a strong movement of "anyone but Harper." That combined with an NDP party that still hadn't put itself together after Jack Layton died and a shitty Bloc Quebecois means that there wasn't any significant 3rd party to challenge Harper so everyone voted for Trudeau as the bet chance to get rid of Harper.
I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I even voted for him. It was the first and only time I've ever voted liberal.

Damn, where I'm from people are okay with government action to control the pandemic.
But not like this. When they tried to fine people(A LOT) for not wearing a mask and shit people protested and had it removed/watered down.
My country has a "government is here to protect us" attitude because of our societal structure/culture of never question elderly people and even we don't like the new laws.
I sometimes disagree with how far TDW goes with the pandemic thing because ik close friends who lost parents and family members to it. It is actually an issue but whats also an issue is the precedent thats being set this year.
The precedent of arbitrary laws being imposed totally against the constitution. Covid is being used as an excuse to pass anything they want no matter how tyrannical it is.
And also the blatant hypocrisy and applying laws only to people they don't like. Rioters are expressing themselves but family dinners are evil is why people stopped giving a fuck about the pandemic. Its absolutely awful.
I just want the pandemic to end and we all go back to normal lives:(

In Toronto atm, there's a rule where, if you're a family you can't have guests over at all, even if you live in a house split into two apartments, like family in the basement, family upstairs, you're technically not allowed to visit eachother within the same household.
Also, if you're single and don't live with anyone, you're only allowed to associate yourself with 1 family, whether it's your own, or some other family. Otherwise, nada.
