The article mentions that his vehicle was shot at. That implies people on the ground, small arms fire.

If the US military took him out, I can't help but think they'd go for the same way they took out Suleimani. One neat and tidy little missile from a drone.

Nah man the mossad took him out. The Israelis have 10 times more intel on Iran than we do. We literally have to restrain Israel from going apeshit all the time.
