They were even able to pin point the geographical location of an ISIS training camp from propaganda videos and were able to get someone with enough pull in the Russian military to call in an airstrike on the camp. I think it was their tips that identified the Boston Marathon Bombers and got the FBI on their trail, and they also get credit for identifying the ANTIFA Bike Lock Assaulter in Berkeley.
There are some superstitions on the board that I find hilarious.
Dubs, Trips, etc. Each post is assigned a sequential number and due to the amount of activity, it is impossible to predict your posts number, yet many people who try to make wild predictions either correctly guess their posts number or the number has repeating numbers in it. For example before the 2016 election someone made the prediction that Trump will win. His post number was something like 77777777.
Then when Pepe became popular, people noticed that there was an ancient Egyptian deity named Kek that took the form of a frog. The usage of 'kek' is another form of 'lol' from a multiplayer video game where if you tried to read another factions texts it would be scrambled, so 'lol' would appear as 'kek'. Then someone found an old record from an Italian disco band called P.E.P.E. and the graphic on the record disc was a frog holding a magic wand. This confirmed meme magic as a real force and is the reason a song from that album, Shadilay, is the "national anthem" of Kekistan.
