Good morning fellow pedes.
Im in Toronto and I saw rumors swirling that Dominion had shut down their offices in here.
I decided Im going to go check it out and make some videos. Ive never done anything like this before. So I figured Id ask for some advice and what people want to see.
How should I approach this? Is there anything I need to be careful of, that I can possibly get in trouble for? What things should I look out for that would be the best stuff to record?
I am a professional photographer but do not know the laws in Canada.
In the USA, you have the right to photograph or videotape anything that can be seen from what is described as a public space. That means from a street or public thoroughfare. If you are ON property and are asked to leave, you are supposed to stop image gathering at that point. I shoot on private property all the time and am rarely asked to stop. But if I am asked to leave I am trespassing from that point forward.
I would gather images or video on one memory card that is from a public area, then, provided nobody tells you to leave, use another memory card to capture images that are closer or even looking into windows. Do NOT go into the building. You might get push back on shots through the windows but probably not.
Use a dummy account to upload the edited video from and try to use a public WIFI connection at a hotel or restaurant for the upload if you can.
If you use YouTube, make the video PRIVATE, then share it with people you trust. Then make it public.
Just some ideas. I am not a lawyer and I am not familiar with Canada law. I am familiar with US laws however.
Thank you! This is exactly the type of thing I was looking for.
Really appreciate it
I'll definitely have a look
Scoop! Doing the job that American MSM won’t do. Thank you for your enthusiasm.
Find out where their garbage gets dumped. See if you can dig anything up. Just a hunch. How you would go about that? I do not know.
I know where the building is, it's in the heart of downtown, tons of junkies and homeless down there.
I personally am not willing to risk going into a dumpster in that area. Hopefully u understand, but a great idea now nonetheless.
Not the dumpster. Where they take it to be dumped. And i dont blame you one bit. Was just a halfhearted attemps at a suggestion, with a bit of spyflick humor
