Man. It's really frustrating.

I have a liberal friend who I try to discuss this shit with, he counters my points with articles from the BBC and other similar media outlets that he boasts as the most unbiased (BBC in particular).

Whenever i want to link him to any article talking about this shit, he'll go to "allsides" which is some media bias thing that rates places for their bias, and inevitably point out how anyplace I link him any information from is rated as hard right bias.

It kinda fucking sucks man, because I want to appeal to him as a reasonable person but he just can't take anything seriously that comes from anything more right than Breitbart. In his mind it's just as laughable as a site like Vox or The New York Times.

Which i can't even necessarily argue against in good faith, ever since Reagan removed the anti-bias media laws, it's hard to trust anything at all

Just play it cool. No need to fight a liberal loser. Just on the day Donald Trump is sworn in as President again. Link the BBC article of it. Have some fun.

Insert Watchmen meme here, "Who watches the watchers?"

As soon as you tell people two seemingly separate entities are working together to deceive they think you’re crazy. It’s true and easily verified in a thousand ways but many just can’t process it.

If your friend responds to a specific claim you've put in your own words with (perhaps) a link to a source of your own that supports it... by consulting a bias-tracking site and giving you their 'score' of the source not your claim... it's sad but safe to say but you don't have any real engagement. I have had similar experiences. I even had a long time friend 'sucker punch' me directly by replying that my message had inspired him to make an immediate $100 donation to Biden's campaign. They won't do their own research. They won't even take your suggestion on what are good things to research. You'll never even hear them put into their own words a contrary position.

It comes down to whether they value your opinion at all. We've gone full tribal and you are in a different tribe.

He's right about the relative neutrality of the BBC, that is a thing that did once exist. I grew up listening to BBC on shortwave during the Reagan years because they had a more thoughtful take on American politics. But the BBC of today is another globalist organization.
