One minor quibble, fascism isn't a right-leaning ideology. It's also far left. Communism and fascism are nearly identical, except for what emphasis they place on social traditions and the identity of the nation state. But they are pretty much clones in terms of the real functional nuts and bolts. Both are socialist authoritarian collectivist ideologies that subvert the individual to the State, which is what the far Left is.

Communism and fascism are both proto feudalist in nature.
Commies only impose a retarded effective 100% tax on all market activity.
The party in both cases serve as nobillity class with near absolute power with the party leader as totalitarian ruler. All they miss to become fully feudalist is a dynasty and an intergenerational transfer of power.
See how fluid the transition worked for cuba/north korea and even modern china with their red princes and Xi. You could argue that modern china is the closest to national socialism.
Both systems are basically a rebranding of monarchy with different economic systems grafted onto it.

The American education system only started putting fascism on the right of the spectrum because they wanted some way to say "yeah, well the right is really evil too!"
First, all modern interpretations of the left/right spectrum are made up. The real definition pertained to which group sat on what side of the assembly hall during the Estates General in the leadup to the French Revolution. The pro-monarchy side sat on the right, and the anti-monarchy side sat on the left. Well, most countries, especially the US, don't have a monarchy in the first place, so all attempts to twist modern politics into this analogy are going to be made up to fit with modern times. The made up definition that makes the most sense is authoritarianism/collectivism on the left, and liberty/individualism on the right. The extreme dystopia of the left is full on tyranny, and the extreme dystopia of the right is total anarchy.

Yeah, my understanding is that the English/American conception of Left/Right came from a series of debates between Thomas Payne and Edmund Burke on the nature of social change vs preserving traditions. The classical European distinction was more about the amount of power belonging to the State. The Liberals (Left) wanted limited government and individual freedom while the Monarchists (Right) believed in a powerful government ruling and dictating for the greater good.
The Nazis and Fascists considered themselves right-wing because they were totalitarian (biggest of big government). By the same standard, today's "progressive" Left would be extremely far Right while Republicans would be very much to the Left. Obviously this is not compatible with the American Left/Right concept - that's before getting into how flexible and meaningless the terms have become of late. For today's Left to simply label fascism "Right wing" is very misleading without explaining (or knowing) what that meant at the place and time it was being applied.
Perhaps the best way to understand the conflict between Fascism and Communism is to recognize that it's Sectarian. It's just like the centuries of persecution, hatred, killing, etc. between Catholic and Protestant Christians or Shia and Sunni Muslims. Fascism, National Socialism, Bolshevism, etc. are all fairly minor variations on the same foundational belief system (Socialism in this case), and those differences are enough to view each other as heretical.
Glad there are others who completely hate this fake idea of a "political spectrum" like all of society, philosophy and ideology can just fit on a 2 plane line lmao. We really need to push against a political spectrum existing. Would solve A lot of these modern ideology problems people seem to think we have.

Not quite. They employ chaos as a means to their end. But it is not a absence of government or top down direction. Antifa raging in the streets might look like Mad Max, but it is absolutely not anarchy. It's carefully directed for a specific purpose, and clamped down on hard as soon as their masters have achieved their goals. The first against the wall after any revolution is the lower ranked revolutionaries. The tools of chaos are useful to tear down the current system you want to destroy, but you quickly kill them off once you've established your totalitarian system. Can't have them doing it again to you.
