I was initially thinking 'fingerprint' too, but couldn't decide on exactly the 'how' for a mail-in ballot; trying to think in the simplest of terms for the sake of non-tech type voters. Fingerprints would be secure, but the 'how' is where I'm at a loss.
Would voters have to supply their own Ink for their fingerprint? How about that 'invisible/colorless' ink used on Newborn Babies, the type that doesn't leave an ink-stain yet makes the print when pressed to the Birth Certificate?
You know, many/most Smartphones have the option to unlock the phone with a Fingerprint, so perhaps it could somehow tie with those devices; since most people seem to have one.
Trying to come up with the easiest method possible.

If you’re an up to date Apple user, your fingerprint does diddly. It’s all FaceID now (which works sooooooo well with the face diaper).
