Long rant incoming. i went to my sister's house yesterday. She has a dog that is very aggressive. It is aggressive because it's always afraid. Her husband comes home and we talk a bit. He is a lawyer, and super leftist. I could tell in his demeanor he was angry with me. We were taking about the damn paint on the walls. Paint color turned to "if I ever hear someone say Fag, I'll kill them." My nephew is gay. He is 23 years old and has never driven a car. That is unbelievable to me. Nephew stayed in his room the entire time I was there. He was so afraid of my presence he stayed in his room. I'm family!! My niece was shaking with fear and anger when she spoke to me. I asked her with true concern, "what is wrong, why are you angry?" She said she can't stand hateful people. I've done nothing to these people. I said I'm a christian, I love everyone. I might not agree with your world view, but i love you. Im a 22 year and 3 deployment army vet. But yet they see me, a fellow American, as the enemy. They mirror the dog. Irrational fear and anger. My presence alone made these people afraid. What has happened to this country? I felt more hated in my own family"s house then I ever did in Iraq.
