Tesla has all types of funny business going on that doesn't really make financial sense. I really hate to shatter the grand illusion, but Elon is an overhyped electric car manufacturer and not much else. He isn't really a visionary. More like he re-gifts old technology. Nothing really revolutionary about his rockets, it's a old tech, front end developed by what NASA already had done. Hyperloop? That shit is trash, just a dumpster fire of money. Aquiring Solar City while it's operating at a net loss? Not smart. And he is still on lithium battery tech, with no breakthroughs (primarily for thermodynamic reasons) on the horizon. I would have more confidence if he just stuck to electric cars and hit that hard, muscling in on the failing "Big Three." He could have eaten their lunch, but instead he parades around lime the rich kid at the science fair. A lot of flash, not any real substance when you break it down to it's components.
