The attorneys would have taken a case like this on contingency (ie take a percentage of the judgment if Page wins). There’s a risk the firm loses the case and makes no money but having read the complaint it’s a strong case for page. They’re asking 75 million in damages I believe so technically the firm risks making no money if they lose but 33% or 40% of 75 million is a hell of an upside... and being that liability is pretty clear, there’s a strong possibility it will settle, in which case the firm may have done most of the work they’ll need to do already putting together that complaint.

Read lines 225, 229, 233 etc:

"The individual Defendants’ acts were willful, knowing, deliberate and malicious."

36
majorpribluda 36 points ago +36 / -0

When you settle, the lawsuit stops. Discovery is part of the lawsuit where both sides are required to show all sorts of stuff that is relevant. Discovery helps uncover sneaky corrupt shit. Settling is costly but the loser gets to avoid discovery.
Therefore, we do not want our forces to accept any settlement, no matter how sweet it may look.
WE WANT DISCOVERY.

12
EDDIT_IS_CUCKED 12 points ago +12 / -0

If they settle, nobody gets to dig into the bullshit. "Discovery" allows the opposite side to subpoena evidence.

12
SayItAintJoe 12 points ago +12 / -0

It means 'don't allow them to settle this out of court'... the discovery period in a suit like this is when all of the juicy facts come out. It's when agencies are subpoenaed to produce relevant documents, witnesses are called, etc.

11
MNMathtic 11 points ago +11 / -0

In Law, “discovery” is the exchange of legal information and known facts of a case. Think of discovery as obtaining and disclosing the evidence and position of each side of a case so that all parties involved can decide what their best options are – move forward toward trial or negotiate an early settlement.

Parties in a case are required to participate in the discovery process, meaning they must hand over information and evidence about a claim so all participants can know what they are facing at trial.

Clinton

125, 140, 142, 152, 187

3
Yeow 3 points ago +3 / -0

125.On or about September 7, 2016, a senior CIA official forwarded an investigative referral to Comey and Peter Strzok about a potential plan to divert attention from presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s alleged mis-use of a private email server when she was Secretary of State by alleging the existence of collaboration between the Trump campaign and Russian hackers to interfere in the election.

140.Strzok was a recipient of the September 7, 2016, investigation referral from the CIA regarding U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's approval of a plan concerning U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private mail server."

142.Strzok and the FBI Crossfire Hurricane team assumed the Hillary Clinton campaign or the Democratic Party was paying for Steele’s research.

  1. ...Even though Auten knew Steele was working for the Clinton campaign by early January 2017, he did not seek to include this information in the applications for the Third and Fourth FISA Warrants.

  2. b. In late July, the F.B.I. opened an investigation into possible collusion between members of Mr. Trump’s campaign and Russian operatives. Besides Mr. Comey and a small team of agents, officials said, only a dozen or so people at the F.B.I. knew about the investigation. Mr. Strzok, just days removed from the Clinton case, was selected to supervise it.

31
Saltybitch 31 points ago +32 / -1

This is so beautiful...difficult to adequately and fully describe the beauty.

135
TopperBlack 135 points ago +137 / -2
  • The FBI did not advise the FISC that Page had been for many years an “operational contact” of the CIA.

  • The FBI did not advise the FISC that CHS Steele had been paid by the Democrat party and/or the Clinton campaign to provide opposition research on Donald Trump.

  • The FBI did not advise the FISC that Steele’s source (“Primary Sub-source") of information against Dr. Page had himself been investigated for attempting to recruit Americans to help spy for Russia.

  • The FBI did not advise the FISC that Steele’s Primary Sub-source contradicted critical information that Steele attributed to him.

  • Instead, the FBI represented to the FISC that the Primary Sub-source was “credible,” without disclosing to the FISC that what the Primary Sub-Source had “credibly” reported to the FBI was that the information Steele attributed to him was inaccurate and misleading.

  1. Ultimately an FBI attorney altered an email from the CIA in order to falsely deny that Dr. Page had been a CIA source serving for many years as an operational contact.

  2. In reality, there was no “probable cause” to support surveillance of Dr. Page. If FBI procedures had been followed and an honest and thorough investigation conducted, and if the FBI had fully and accurately reported what it knew, the FISA warrants against Dr. Page would neither have been sought nor issued.

  3. The individual Defendants fabricated or intentionally disregarded critical evidence, and misled the FISC, in order to obtain the FISA warrants. This case is about holding accountable the entities and individuals who are responsible for the most egregious violation and abuse of the FISA statute since it was enacted over forty years ago

1

John and Jane Does would probably be CIA people. Some alive, some could be dead by nefarious means.

This comes out right after Flynn is pardoned. Thinking along the lines that it's all linked because it probably is.

11
FireannDireach 11 points ago +11 / -0

Jane and john can be placeholders for any witnesses that might be dug up in discovery, or is being withheld. If they get into discovery, then they can have the court subpoena for identities. They can use them, or not.

Mebbe. Could be anyone. Or just a buffer if they find new people they want on the stand. Usually Does are filed as a contingency, they think others might be needed, but they don't have proof or know for sure.

With the scope of this suit, it could be any of them, up to Obama.

Mclean, Broadlands, Fairfax, Arlington, Burke.

The Deep State really does live in Northern Virginia.

I remember a couple weeks ago folks here were saying Page was a spook. How does this puzzle piece fit in with that? Would this create doubt on that narrative or is it kind of irrelevant? Don’t really know what this all means.

He was a person that was happy to work with the CIA when they asked for help against criminals since he worked globally. They helped him with business contacts and he returned the favour having meetings and reporting back. He is now just a pissed off private citizen that is about to make bank.

chlofefe 4 points ago +4 / -0

Wow, they used him as an asset then stabbed him in the back

Sounds about right for the CIA

5
yukondave 5 points ago +5 / -0

Actually the CIA told the FBI he was working with them. The only person to have been arrested for an offence was the guy that got the email from the CIA that said he DOES work for them and added the words does not .

It's interesting to follow this from Scandinavia. There have been zero news about what has happened these previous days. Oh my are people going to be shocked when you guys flip state after state. And everything will be blamed on Trump and that he is staging a coup. This election has truly been an eye opener for me, sometimes I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Bur holy shit, this runs deep.

To all you patriots. KEEP ON FIGHTING THE GOOS FIGHT! You are making a difference!

British press just gets it all from CNN and filters it through a British accent.

4
FireannDireach 4 points ago +4 / -0

I feel like the filter is more AP/CNN -> EU in Brussles - > BBC.

Quite probably.

Pretty much the same here. I cross checked reporting done by swedish state media during the election with CNN reported. And to no surprise, it was basically the same. So the bullshittery that the MSM does over there also affects us greatly

HS/IS and MTV have a deal with CNN so they literally get all american news from them. edit talking about Finnish media :D

2
BishopofBlackpool 2 points ago +2 / -0

They use the same phrases and talking points. It's incredibly disconcerting...

GulagBoi 7 points ago +7 / -0

Czech Republic here, same crap. "dRuMpF lost case again!!!! Zero chance of wining, no evidence at all. Everyone scream at him to concede, but he's a manbaby and has tantrum instead."

It's even worse that it normaly would be because CNN has bought news on main TV channel, outright renamed it Prima CNN. Can't wait for it to go bankrupt.

4
BishopofBlackpool 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's terrible. At least we can avoid CNN in the UK as it's just on an obscure channel (And everyone does).

We all feel crazy over here... it’s like half the population is completely brainwashed... and they all think the same about us

Deplorablechump1213 14 points ago +14 / -0

This has been really interesting to watch. Both sides say EXACTLY the same things about each other. It’s wild.

3
moneyUSA 3 points ago +4 / -1

one thing that differentiates us is that we can make that distinction. They’ll never try to see from our view this madness.

Isn't he a guy they tried to tie to Russia in order to spy.

I think it’s interesting this entire thread is assuming carter is some good guy white hat. No one knows that. Food for thought, carter is CIA and he very well could have infiltrated trump’s campaign with the purpose of getting a FISA - he could have been in on it and then got burned and this is his revenge.

Lets say he wins 5 million and send a 5 pounder bag of shit out daily than he will be able to terrorize them for 91 years if he just sends 5 pounds of shit for 30 years ever day than it will only cost him $1.6 million definitely worth it imo.

FBI ABSOLUTELY BTFO. They've been trying to hide Joe Pientka for YEARS. Carter Page naming him as a defendant is a tactical NUKE.

JerryNadlerBeltFund 9 points ago +9 / -0

Watch the Plot Against the President. Pientka and Strzok interviewed Flynn about a call with Russian official Kislyak during the transition period after the 2016 election. Pientka originally drafted the 302 (FBI interview notes), but Strzok edited the notes with the assistance of Lisa Page, a DOJ attorney who is reported to be Strzok's mistress. This cooperation was revealed in the Strzok-Page text messages, where she was pissed because Peter's edits left an incoherent report as he edited the meeting notes to suit his purpose.

I don't think the original 302 has ever been seen anywhere, and Pientka was pushed to the shadows, and discovery in a Carter Page lawsuit could produce some interesting revelations.
