That may not be practical. I give 0 fucks how long it takes to accurately count, but I do care that the process is fair. This includes your point - no time for rigging.
Part of the issue is cities like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh not reporting anything until after the rural vote comes in and they know what numbers they have to create.
A standardized deadline for all reporting ends that.
Right. You're addressing the problem of not only allowing time, but granting information allowing riggers to rig. Deprive them of that.
But a large city takes more time to count than a rural precinct with 100 votes. To have fair elections this needs to be allowed for. No results given until the count is DONE. We got away from that to satisfy instant gratification, at best. Now we see the problems associated with that.
This isn't foolproof tho, if a corrupt official was in charge of a known Red area he/she could purposely drag their feet to turn in votes. And if it's an issue of a two party verification to turn the votes in, one - or - the other party could easily be corrupted, bought or bribed into going along with the feet dragging aspect.
All precincts and counties have a half hour window to report. If you show up after that your shit doesn't count.

Exactly. No news reports or other knowledge of a potential vote count until after everything is counted.

Could always just deliver them in sealed envelopes and nothing can be opened until every one shows up.
