From a 3rd person perspective: When a civilization is in collapse (much as ours have been for at least the past seventy so years) then its either dominate the opposition or they will dominate you.

My personal POV: I am fully against their arming up. We need to come together as Americans and if you are Antifa then please ignore my stockpiling of guns and ammo.
