Hospital Pede here. They shut the COVID tent because NOBODY wants to work the COVID tent. My hospital has to conscript people to work it. It’s a total shit show.
Super hot or freezing cold out there. There’s a shitty little space heater or “ac” unit that’s a glorified fan. TONS of fucking paperwork. You’re hand-copying people’s insurance cards and ID’s. If they don’t have insurance, you use the shitty testing kit with the Chinese writing on it. If they have insurance, you use the good American test kit.
You can volunteer for it for $, but it’s so bad that the shifts go unfilled, and then each department is forced to provide bodies to staff it and you get voluntold.
You can get out of the paperwork by being the swabber, but then you have to be in head-to-toe PPE, and you’re walking the line of cars burning or freezing. You have to be careful to match swabs to paperwork, but after 6 hours of this bullshit, you couldn’t care less and just do it as fast as you can to try to catch a break. Then 4:45pm comes, every idiot leaves work, shows up in the COVID line, and the hospital won’t let you shut the line down because each test is $$$.
Been saying this (as well as many others) for people to follow the money on Covid. More "positive" tests, more money for the hospital.
Trump should remove federal funding for covid and you would see it disappear almost over night.
Sure the media would have a field day for a week over the removal of funds, but it would force them to admit that the last 8 months of their bullshit has all been lies.

They aren’t the only ones that are empty. There’s another one down on Ventura that I ride by where I see nurses standing around outside smoking or fiddling with their phones. The one over in West Hills is empty too.
I am just not seeing what would appear to be a massive pandemic. Granted, I’ve only seen movies about pandemics but in all of them, it’s total chaos not empty parking lots with nurses standing around making Tik Tok videos.
