Actually, there was nothing wrong with DDT. It was environmentalism that got it banned, and not because it was bad. If they would not have banned it, Africa and several other island nations could have effectively eliminated the disease. But because they banned it, it gave the Mosquitoes time to build up an immunity to it there before it could be distributed in mass quantities as needed.
