I'm fairly certain that (some, not all) of these types of posts are deliberately made to re-enforce ideas within a person. For example:
"Upvote if you're voting for Trump!"
This strengthens that wiring in your brain and re-enforces the idea that you're going to do a certain thing, or think a certain way. After all, you've loosely committed to it.
