Preface: I know everyone on this board can handle themselves. Nevertheless, a tip: an open-hand slap is highly effective. Not a bitch-slap with no weight behind it. Rather,, an open hand that's akin to a blackjack across the face. It stings, it stuns, and there's far less chance of a broken orbital bone or a lawsuit. Knowing is half the battle, friends.

I'm not sure why you posted this but it is not good advice, especially in a public setting. While it will stun some people as you say, if the other person is tough or intoxicated it could easily escalate the situation. There are multiple online videos of people slapping other people very hard after being pushed into a corner and it does nothing but start a melee.
Yes you should use minimal force (closed fist laws) if you are skilled enough, but use techniques that deescalate and de-fuse, like joint locks or throws that instantly take away the other persons will to fight. Slapping will have the total opposite effect half of the time and will escalate a situation quickly. I spent many years as a bouncer.
