This is a very reasonable question. I'm relieved to see the level of interest and engagement the conservative side of SCOTUS has demonstrated in election-related matters. It seems that we will get 4 justices to say yes to the most important cases.
If memory serves me I believe they have full autonomy and control over their schedule. To the point they can take up a case at any time, I think they donβt even have to wait on lower courts to rule.
I'm sure they control the schedule, but it'd be unconscionable for them to put an election case on the backburner.
They can take any case they want right this minute if they desire. They need 4 justices to accept it. That's all.
