Sales taxes on food.

Normal rates, though, not a special rate?

PA charges 6% for prepared food, and 0% for stuff that you have to cook yourself. Our food taxes are fair, as prepared food could be considered a luxury.

Ah, it CT it's 7.35% for prepared food, which is higher than the normal sales tax (6.35%), but it doesn't just cover cooked food, it can cover packaged food too.

As far as I know, in states that have a sales tax on food, it is the same sales tax rate used for general merchandise. There may be exceptions.
