As a Brit pede, could someone please inform me why the Pacific Northwest is such a communist hellhole? Not necessarily Northern California though - I think places like Shasta and Del Norte are fairly based.

Just seen the WA voting map - that Puget Sound/Sea-Tac regime is definitely a deep blue speck of cancer - but not Spokane or the part of the state around Idaho way - Idaho influence would explain the deep red shade though.
