I've been following my own advice on buying more ammo, perhaps now is the time to follow my own advice of buying more guns. Up until recently I've been a large 2A supporter, but not a large gun owner.

I have a few handguns and a few years back, got a shotgun, so now I'm thinking about getting a rifle. I've been leaning towards an AR-15. An appealing part are the large selection of 80% receivers as that would mean less of a paper trail. I'm particularly interested in the 80% poly receiver kits that appear to only require a drill to complete. Would be nice to see if it could be under $1k. I got a bit more research to do. Any advice is welcome.

Anyways, happy Sunday Gunday!

Unless you've done at least some basic machining before, I wouldn't start with an 80%. Easy to slip up and waste a lot of money.

Depending on your state, you could be better off shopping around the local used market. There's more of a paper trail on an 80% ordered online than there is on a rifle bought used in person from someone that lives near you.

Ask around at gun shops and shooting ranges what the going rates are and if there's anyone looking to offload a few extras.

Agree, and don't forget paper trails usually lead to bottom of your nearest lake in that boating accident you had some time ago
