Long story short. I’m a teacher and I’m now teaching school online using Microsoft Teams. My dad just got the internet bill and his introductory rate has ended and his bill has doubled. He doesn’t want to pay the $83 a month for 75mbps from xfinity. I told him I’d pay the difference because 75mbps seems to work really well for me being online with 21 kiddos. He’s not convinced. So I’m wondering what my options are? Can I use Teams with less than 75mbps? Switch service providers? Any tips would be welcomed. Thanks everyone.

You can. 75 is plenty for most things as long as youre the only one using the bandwidth. Teams should kill it with 10-15mbs.

He’s talking about taking it down to 25mbps because that’s the cheapest plan 🤦🏼‍♀️ I don’t think that’s enough. I’m generally the only one using it during the day, sometimes my mom will turn the tv on and stream in the afternoon.

You should be fine with that tbh. Teams doesnt need much. Just dont let any other heavy use occur when youre teaching.

Call Comcast, threaten to leave, don't bother with CSRs, try to get straight to customer retention.

Swap the bill into your name and get a new intro rate, or you should be able to do what you need with 25.

Even with being on Teams and working with 20-21 kids on my screen? I feel like sometimes it’s not enough.

M$soft requirements are at the bottom. They say HD is 1 up 2 down. Probably a little low imo but still.
