They vote. If four or more request to hear the case, they hear it.

You’re welcome. I suppose I should clarify: they don’t typically vote to hear random cases they’re interested in (though they can hear random cases sua sponte, they rarely do); they typically vote on whether or not to grant certiorari (that is, whether they will grant an appeal hearing to an applicant).

Bit as I said, it only takes four (rather than a majority).

Yeah what he said. 6 would have to say no for it to be a no.

they can vote to bring up any case they want, and they can accept a writ of certiorari from anyone at any time

the "best" route is to work up through the appeals, but only because of the tradition of hearing very few cases through the other channels

I think they will search high and low for any lame excuse to avoid hearing it. They are afraid of the backlash from the left. They will try to run out the clock and hope we roll over and accept it. We've been too nice, too trusting, too peaceful. They don't fear "We the People" and they should.
