Habeas Corpus is a legal process to prevent incarceration by the government without due process.

It stops you from being arrested without charge and imprisoned indefinitely without trial.

It might look nice to be able to do this to Antifa, but it sets a precedence to use it against MAGA too.

Suspending it, which has happened a handful of times in US history, means go directly to jail, do not pass go and stay there until the "emergency" is over.

In the past, it was suspended in a limited way. Example: during the Civil War it was just Maryland, and after that war, Grant limited to a few counties in one of the Southern states for a limited amount of time.

Lincoln's order was later ruled unconstitutional. He ignored it and later on Congress let it go. Lincoln had locked up members of the opposition party.

This is often the way suspension of H.C. has gone on this country, they impose it, then it's ruled to be an unlawful imposition at a later date.

Habeas corpus is Latin for “show the body”.
