Unless it’s a first-time vote like in Afghanistan when they ran around cutting off people’s fingers that were inked. It makes you easily identifiable as a “subversive” too.
An ID just for voting would be awesome. You scan your barcode when you enter, you vote, and it’s tied to that code. Of course these two pieces of data are stored separately, and can only be linked with a court order, but at least there’s no more of the “oh no, the signatures on the envelopes were all destroyed” scenarios.

I'd rather dip an appendage that NO ONE would consider mutilation as a means to defraud an election.
