Election ballots should be printed by the fucking US treasury. They should be secured like money. They should be individually traceable and the treasury should get back the exact number of ballots they sent out. Operations on a ballot (counting, sorting, auditing) should require an indelible mark on the paper which traces exactly what precinct did the action and when.
It shouldn't be physically POSSIBLE to stuff ballots.
I personally assumed, incorrectly, that their were bar codes on the mail in ballots sent out, for tracking. I remain blown away that there was a complete and utter lack of any such basic security controls. I keep thinking back to the meme I saw here earlier today where a guy was a marksman during the IRaqi elections a while back and it was his job to take anyone out who might try to cause a problem with the integrity of the election, yet here we all are wondering how a massive fraud scheme was perpetrated against the citizens of the United States.
