They do not ever want a strong pro-american, unapologetic President ever again. Those types are a literal threat to their power. The Left will fight til the end to utterly destroy anyone in the future who is Patriotic and proud and fights for America and they have to destroy any future threats to their power: "if you try it we'll destroy you"
