Jan 6th (i believe) is when the electoral votes are transmitted to congress and then counted and then a verdict made.
I am not sure if electors can retract their vote between dec 14 and jan 6, but I know they can cast a 'faithless' vote, which is where they vote against the will of the people they represent, rendering the popular vote in that county/district to be void or irrelevant
