It happened to me and my hubby here in Pima county. And the county recorder's office flat out lied and said we asked for them. Same thing happened in 2016 to me (not him), and I found out when I went to vote in person election day. Had to file a provisional, and they got back to me a few days later and said the signature on the mail in had not matched and my provisional was accepted.
But they never told me what the fuck happened to the invalid vote that had been in that envelope when they opened it, and never told me what, if any, investigations they had done to find the fake voter.
This year we did the special election crap in June/july. Turned them in in person and I verified WITH PIMA COUNTY that I was checking the "right" box to NOT get mail in. We then left the state for a few months. While we were gone, I checked the state website twice to make sure we were not mail in.
We got back a week earlier than planned, and got our ballots in the freaking mail 2 days later. Had we not come back early, we would never have known. We filled them out and returned in person, and asked for an investigation. They called 2 days later and said we had checked off the mail in ballot box. FUCK NO WE DIDN'T.
