I agree, except our stupid governor here in Oregon focuses only on cases. I'm sure that's the same narrative across the country. They haven't been able to utilize hospitalization or mortality rates for several months now in order to justify their insane mandates, so they just moved the goal posts to "reducing the spread of the virus". I point out this change in narrative to people around me and it's a nice redpill moment.

After doctors realized putting everyone into respirators for weeks then once they removed the respirators their lungs were too weak to contract and expand on their own covid fatality rates went way down. Another aspect of this pandemic is how worthless the average doctor is when they have to tackle a virus or a disease they aren't sure on optimal treatment so they were essentially killing not treating for covid. Of course this factor that contributed to the initial high mortality will be hidden because if it isn't it can bankrupt the medical profession and cut their numbers by a lot nevermind it would cause mistrust in the profession for a generation if not longer.

Another aspect is how frightful people are of the virus, you see young people acting like they are dying because they got this virus because of the psychological believe that it's a deadly virus when it isn't. I bet most people that test positive for covid will only notice symptoms after the diagnose. "I'm winded after going up the stairs must be because of covid", nevermind you haven't exercised for 3 months....

This, but also, I'm convinced that most of these "tHiS iS sErIoUs!" Idiots have never had a bad flu.

I had one, 20 years ago. Vomited constantly, high fever, couldn't walk, could barely breathe.

Must have been Coronachan.
