It's not about "heroics," it's about your basic HUMAN RIGHTS which they will have no problem continuing to chip away at unless you do something about it. Don't be surprised when that happens, and don't complain about it as you comply then too because you don't want to raise trouble. You being with your wife and her getting proper medical attention are NOT mutually exclusive and yet the normalization of their authoritarianism is already starting to infiltrate your brain when you allow them to use that as a bargaining chip to make you comply.
