I doubt this means the end of the CIA, but it is certainly a turning point.

Trump is going to make sure that no one (no foreign actors, no corrupt domestic actors, no criminals) can significantly manipulate/cheat enough to alter future elections in the USA.

Which brings us to the 2020 election, and a Military raid on a CIA server farm in Frankfurt, Germany.

A firefight took place in which some people got killed. CIA Director was out of the loop prior to the raid.

Then this man comes along fully supporting the Military. He spends a huge amount of his administration rooting out domestic enemies.

DOD started looking much more closely at what the CIA was doing and didn't like what it was seeing.

DOD was having a hard time because the CIA asset's administration was hamstringing them at every turn.

Then something funny happened. The DOD and CIA got in a pissing match over Syria. They were backing opposite sides.

Sure enough, they pulled it off with a CIA asset with a made-up past. Then they discovered the joys of voting machines. If they pulled it off once, they could do it forever and always drive policy.

I think it started as a joke early in the Bush era.

"Let's find or create the worst candidate we can and make him POTUS."

"How about a name, which is a mixture of Sadaam Hussein and Osama bin Laden?"

(the people involved were all drunk or stoned when they came up with the idea)

I've always thought this episode was the starting point for the CIA to seriously consider if they could win an election in the US as they had manipulated elections overseas.

Take this whole thread with a grain of salt as it is my musing on the CIA.

When Jesse Venture became Governor of Minnesota in 1999, he was "interviewed" by a group of CIA who wanted to know how he was able to come out of left field and win the election.
