what you're proposing would lead to legislators winning by far less than 50%. that's not the 'mandate' politicians are used to, imagine how much more divisive things will be. right now, we still have political party primaries. many career RINOs run for re-election unopposed. philosophically, i don't like people complaining about spoilers (like Ross Perot), but with 4 major parties, that's all people will be saying and the rinos and commies still might get elected.
