If our US Congress had the courage, or is forced to confront the fraud that has upended this election by an angry citizenry, a similar commission could be convened. Certainly this year is as much a travesty as 1876...

However, the GOP was forced to make concessions in the compromise to get Hayes elected which caused the Dems to have a near monopoly on the South for the next 80-90 years, where the Dems would implement segregation and other forms of discrimination against nonwhites.
Right. Some compromises with the Devil bring Hell to us all. Just saying that there is a precedent for sidestepping the Electoral College due to widespread fraud. Yes, the EC was set up to guard against corruption. But our current level of corruption may need even more sidestepping.
