We have a teacher in our family-she is currently vacationing in Florida, for a month, while she is supposed to be teaching. Complains about how hard it is to teach during the day when she wants to be out on the beach. Her students are getting the bare minimum, but no accountability and if they learn nothing than they will just blame Covid and the “tough” year. It won’t be because the teacher is hustling through to get outside and work on her tan.

Conservatism must be set aside in the coming days for a more strident idiology willing to take cultural ground and exercise power.. You may not desire to control other people to govern their behavior but we have no choice left.. The power establishment has taken away all choice all that's left is the nessesity of survival or extinction...
Absolutely. I have a neighbor on 100% govt disability who gets alimony from her ex who couldn't understand why we all can't just obey the lockdown orders.

I have said many times: remember in the past when we would have a "government shutdown" lasting two or three weeks? My oh my, how the fedgovs would howl.
"Social security checks won't go out! We have to close all the parks! People won't get their food stamps! I have to sell a kidney on the black market just so I can buy food for my babies! Dogs and cats living together!"
All so that they would not miss a single one of their taxpayer-funded paychecks. And for most of those unlucky few who DID miss a paycheck, why, they got it all paid back them after the "shutdown" ended.

I’m in tech. I’m lucky enough to still be working full time. It pisses me off no end to see others in my industry lecture others to “just stay home.”
