Can confirm the checklist on the left - I had a Russian (visiting) Political Science professor who grew up in the Soviet Union,, played a role in ousting Communists in the 90s and he covered a lot of this on the left pre-Covid. The course was focused on a large part on Communist development through transforming the Russian society and breakdown of the individual. When the whole COVID-19 thing started back in February I was pointing out this is repeating what happened in the Soviet Union. Glad to see this comparison surfaced.
