Tar and feather, ride 'em out on a rail, stocks, bound and paraded while being pelted w rotten food, shunning, public stigmatizing, communal confiscation, and on and on. I studied community justice in early modern Europe at the graduate level and if we brought these practices back and didn't wring our hands while waiting for the nanny state to protect us or enforce justice, we would be a lot better off.
