At some point, it was decided that the aesthetic was not really a vital part of visual art. Those who find nice looking things to be appealing are somehow un-evolved because they lack the ability to connect with a work on a deeper level.

In reality, its just an excuse for uncreative people to create a bunch of ugly shit and get praised for it.
