I can kind of see how keeping Haspel employed gives her the illusion that she's going to get away with something, but Barr and Wray are mysteries to me.

I don't buy the "shootout in Germany" story. I could believe that she killed herself or pretended to kill herself and ran off to go hide. (If she took her own life or fakes her own death it would kind of raise my opinion of her...)
There's various stories. I believe the raid in Germany occurred but it's an wild story when the Director of the CIA is said to have been killed in a shootout during the raid. That said I'm eagerly waiting to see if there's any proof of life. If the rumors of her death are true (shootout or otherwise) this will just add to the twists in the story.
There was a story right after the election in German on Twitter that said the US Army siezed a server from Scytl/Dominion (that much I believe). The stuff with the shootout between CIA and Army guys surprises me (I doubt it very much.) That Haspel herself would be at a server farm in Germany and involved in a shootout strikes me as complete bullshit.
I wouldn't be surprised if it came to a firefight with military elements vs. civilian intel operators. For whatever it's worth the rumors of the firefight list 5 Army personnel dead and 1 CIA paramilitary dead. In the past few weeks we've seen news of 5 soldiers killed in a chopper crash in Egypt and a CIA paramilitary operative in Somali whose body is said to have been flown to Germany. If the firefight aspect occured we may never know for sure depending on how this plays out as such an event being acknowledged and accepted widely would likely make it the first battle of the new Civil War.
