I was finally able to grab it through my usual Firefox extension: Video DownloadHelper - and ultimately I needed to install a further desktop companion program, because the video was so long.
I think because the video is so long, it's not using the usual twitter methods, which is why the usual tools aren't working - because normally I can't download videos from twitter via VDH.
I usually just put the tweet url into savetweetvid.com and it isolates the direct video file for you and displays it on a new page, allowing you to rightclick/longpress and download, but you may be right about the length causing the problem, because that method doesn't work for this vid.
