If you don't already know someone's history and you just read Wikipedia you would find no indication about this. Perhaps a 'they' slipped in where it doesn't really belong could be your only hint. Aren't they supposed to be proud of their trials and achievements, how much they have overcome?

Transgender shouldn’t even be a category if he were supposedly a woman all along. In fact, calling him transgender acknowledges he was one gender and transitioned to another. He wasn’t retro-actively a woman the whole time, as Wikipedia and these LGBT ‘allies’ would lead you to believe.
