I'm leaning on the opinion that the majority of tests are garbage, there's perverse insentives for having false positives, and none for having negative tests. Who knows if all the test results are even real either at this point, they may be like early morning Biden ballots.
The media loves it because it can be used to help their agendas, they were actually really slow at picking up on it and had almost no reporting about what was going on in China until March which I thought odd. It was only after the impeachment sham was winding down that it seemed to click that it could be advantageous for them. For them no crises should ever go to waste.
The pharmaceuticals love it because they can sell a product and take home bags of money from a scared populace and governments.
In the end what matters more though is mortality rate and counting actual rates (strange parallels to ballots here) mortality is very low and in line with other illnesses likely because the virus had mutated to a weaker strains months ago and continues to weaken as viruses tend too. By now there should also be a pretty substantial herd immunity if the positive tests have any merritt.
In a sane world I think we would have been out of the woods and back to normal this last July, but instead we've been pushed into one of voodoo witchcraft of protective talismans (masks), distancing, arbitrary closures, and that it can only spread in certain places or activities.
