So Trump's legal team is rogue? Why do we normally treat statements from his legal team as representative of his positions?
I'm not saying you're wrong about that, it just seems like splitting hairs.
Ok so if Trump retweeted it, can you please show me the tweet? Because if you're referring to the one that says "that is not what AP reported", that is not quite the same
Trump's legal team responded to Barr. So I don't think his quote was faked. I think the conclusions drawn from it and further reporting in the media were, but Barr said what he said. Can take from it what you will but I have not seen a strong track record of Trump approving of Barr in the last few months.
No. I'm not saying they are rogue. I am saying they are his legal team and obligated to defend their client, particularly in the court of public opinion in a high profile situation.
And if you think about it, even the legal team's response would jive with OP's point... the DOJ hasn't investigated... yet, because according to Barr's memo the onus is on the state's first... ergo he, as the DOJ, hasn't seen any evidence... again, yet.
Combine this with the EO which says Barr is to be read-in on election meddling 45 days after the election and everything lines up. We are on day 28 as of today.
In regards to the tweet you're a big boy you can look it up.
Not sure what you're saying. Are you calling his legal team a LARP? What are they "forced" to defend. Are you saying they're useless and just do jobs Trump doesn't even want them to do?
I'm not getting into O.P's point, that's a lot of conjecture. Let's hope it's something like that. Same thing with the EO. Those are different issues from the wording we are discussing.
Show me the tweet. Don't make it difficult. I gave you a specific frame of reference to work with: if you claim to have tweet that doesn't end with "that's not what the AP reported" then show me. I'm happy to be proven wrong. Maybe I missed a tweet.
Edit: So I'm looking directly at the Tweet you're talking about and it contains that line. Guess I really am a "big boy" who remembers things correctly and doesn't add my own positive spin to them.
Cool, so why did Trump call out Barr with a White House statement today?
Incorrect. It was Trump's legal team. Not the administration. In fact, Trump retweeted Herridge reporting that Barr's quote was fake.
It was **literally **released on Trump's official website
