The problem is that libertarianism eventually leads to decay and degeneracy. If the government doesn't step in to stop sex before marriage, homosexuality etc, that's a huge problem.
You make a good point here.
However, Sweden is a good counterexample to your claim. It used to be a homogenous libertarian country 100 years ago. Look where it is now.
My point is that even if your nation is homogenous, outgroups from other nations will try to sabotage you.
I look at it like a market for ideas. If some grocery store is selling rotten food, the government has an obligation to shut it down right? If some people are selling rotten ideas, the government also has to shut it down. Freedom of speech is important because we can learn from each other. But people who are not arguing in good faith and those who are trying to subvert need to be stopped. Libertarian pearl clutchers don't like that.
