I would say the one the globalists set up today is way worse than anything Goebles attempted. The social networks that basically unperson anyone that is a threat combined with a non stop completely false narrative by the media gives them the ability to project a completely false reality to the average person not involved at all with politics.

From personal experience, there are at least a few there on our side. Definitely at Facebook. Possibly even at Twitter.

I couldn't personally stomach it anymore, but we owe a debt to those who can. People exist inside that are doing what they can, leaking what they can, recording what they can. Tech giants are very very good at monitoring their employees, so this is harder than it sounds.

The fact that we even know that "shadow profiles" exist at Facebook is thanks to those who stay on the inside. The fact that we know private messages are being monitored for "misinformation" is thanks to people on the inside. The fact that any argument at all occurs against their censorship (some does) is because if people on the inside.

Don't assume that every employee at these big tech companies is on the same page as the CEOs. It's true that many are, but many more are not, and choose to stick around nonetheless because at least they can influence in some small way.

8
LibertyPrimeWasRight 8 points ago +8 / -0

I don't think it's likely that many more are not on their side. Some, sure. But the majority? Or even "many"? No way.

Its funny.. i never realized when google and facebook were setting up these massive data centers in other countries that it was to keep them protected from real americans. I thought it was bc of pricing or other normal factors.. not to protect their infrastructure from real americans if they rose up to take the tech tyrants down. It also gives them the ability to relocate their headquarters if America did wake up and decide to neuter these piece of shit traitors. This gives them the ability to float wherever the laws allow them to destroy america with the least amount of pushback. Right now they have bought off the repub and dems to completely allow them to destroy america.

1
CrimsonSentinal 1 point ago +1 / -0

Price was the number one factor in their location originally. That distance from us just so happens to be a happy accident. Some of the most expensive data centers ever built are located here in th US.

2
Infidelmiller 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is not entirely true. Around the time world governments discovered they lacked technical skill to intercept messages sent to blackberries there were many announcement of new data centers rolled out to different countries as a condition of allowing their population to interact with the services.

They wised up pretty fast after that.

Maybe Trump is right to repeal 230. I want to see Twitter disappear immediately. Along with Facebook. Fuck all of them.

He is absolutely within his right to repeal it. They're abusing way too much power.

There's a nice fence around the White House to stick em on. Folks can get their pictures with em.

3
richmomz 3 points ago +5 / -2

I don't think repealing it completely is a good idea - it would completely destroy social media (including this website) and make it much more difficult (if not impossible) for people to freely exchange information through internet communities. Normies would turn to mainstream media for their information again. This would not be a net improvement over our current situation since we would just be exchanging one globalist information gatekeeper for another.

The best solution would be to limit sec. 230 protections to small companies (sub 10 million annual revenue) so that people can still freely post and exchange info on sites like this one, while cutting off the nuts of all the censorious big tech social media companies. That would effectively break up the industry into tiny pieces and give everyone a lot of social media choices (so that a couple of major players don't wind up controlling everything).

TL:DR; trust-bust the Silicon Valley social media cartel.

6
CertainlyNotEdward 6 points ago +7 / -1

Just change the words "otherwise objectionable" to "otherwise illegal." Boom, problem solved. If Twitter blocks legal content it becomes a cut and dry test showing they're publishers and can be sued.

4
richmomz 4 points ago +4 / -0

I would be fine with that.

4
braveContrarian 4 points ago +4 / -0

what should happen is enterprises over a certain size (all enterprises, with no disqualifying clause) as well as small enterprises that violate the principles of free speech while operating as public discussion platforms (only small enterprise have this clause, or nonprofit), should lose the protections.

at a certain size (google, amazon) you're making enough money you dont need the protections, and are in too much of a position to abuse them.

non-profits might be exempt, but only under the same restrictions as small-enterprises -- a violation of trust could constitute actual jail time + heavy fines for anyone acting in executive roles at the company or nonprofit.

this would make it so that if you or I open a discussion forum its still 230 protected, we arent responsible for some nutjob or something infringing some asshole posted given fair and equitable moderation on our part.

at the same time, large entities would not be able to do this.

Its actually fair because it keeps internet discussion free, allows for business in a non-denominational manner, and prevents the conditions for making internet discussion non-free to occur again.

1
Wtf_socialismreally 1 point ago +1 / -0

When you are the size of any of these megacorps you should lose most legal protections anyway.

2
RonJoner 2 points ago +2 / -0

Serious question

Was America better in 1995 or now?

6
richmomz 6 points ago +6 / -0

The country as a whole was better off back then, but as far as being informed was concerned it was vastly worse. We were much more ignorant back then.

2
ChuckedBeef 2 points ago +2 / -0 (edited)

We need open platform immunity, but Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc have all shown they are not mature enough to handle that public trust so they need to be stripped. Keep immunity for other open platforms that aren't going to curate based on politics, personal beliefs, or bribes.

Section 230 could even remain but the current tech giants need to be stripped of it permanently. Sites like this one and thousands of others should be left alone. Anything that is the public square with hundreds of millions of users should be held to a higher standard. Anything of that size and influence should be mandated to have zero foreign investors or foreign government influence too.

Never gonna happen. Senator Cruz and Jordan talk big big games. But they won't bring them in to testify under oath. The only one who would do anything is Trump, and I'm not sure what he can do.

In all likelihood, it's the blue haired/check marks reporting the accounts en mass as soon as they have a target via name drop from the hearings. The algorithms will then automatically be locking out these accounts. It's unlikely that somebody from Twitter is doing this manually.

23

Dan Bongino brought up a great point a few days ago.

When I talk on the phone, I can say whatever I want, and an operator doesn't disconnect me once I start saying something 'unacceptable'.

The Big Tech platforms have to treat their 'product' (yes the product is 'us') in the same way.

Hmm, thinking about it, they will not change. Got to start over, somehow.

Satire 23 points ago +23 / -0

It's not about privacy. It's about my freedom. First as a human being, and second as an American: to speak my mind.

The First Amendment is important. These digital platforms have replaced the phone. They've replaced the newspaper. They've even replaced the town square. If we don't have freedom of speech in the town square, we don't have real freedom of speech.

10
vegaspatriot1776 10 points ago +11 / -1

When you talk on the phone there is a reasonable expectation of privacy.

ok, replace the phone call with standing on a street corner. the same rules should apply.

9
Mtnlion667 9 points ago +9 / -0

Privacy is not a stipulation of free speech though.

7

When you promote your product as a free speech platform and you testify under oath that you aren't biased in banning accounts and then you only ban and silence conservatives for reasons not even comparable to the psychotics on the Left. Get fucked. Swing.

They're practicing right now, if Jou Bai Den and Commie Harris get in power then it will be exactly like Chyna. People who speak out against them will be silenced and disappeared somewhere for "re-education" on "Unity", they'll probably justify the disappearance by saying they had covid pro plus and they needed to take them to a special facility for isolation and to update their vaccine passport. It will be the same fascist state with an elite class that rules over everyone once they buy up all the property and businesses that get tanked from Chyna Virus shutdowns.

6

Didn't Twitter do this to people in the last 2 hearings as well?

6
IvIA6A 6 points ago +6 / -0

Only seems to go in one direction, and that's because it's not an algorithm. It's a group of backroom losers doing mass reports to get the accounts flagged by rules lawyering terms of service. Then twitter bans them for 12 hours or whatever.

If you are big enough you can get the media to raise questions, and you get the "sorry this was banned by mistake just an algorithm". Otherwise it's too bad for you, good luck with your appeal you will lose because technically maybe you did say the right combination of words that violates something.

But my main concern is dealing with the real problem in our country (which is not infastructure).

2
mty_green_go 2 points ago +2 / -0

Many large companies have 100 different contingency plans for disaster recovery. They could likely spin up their whole website on amazon cloud or azure cloud services within hours. Seize the domains along with network core layers and the site is unavailable to everyone.

then destroy all server farms to not leave anything salvageable

1
learntocode 1 point ago +1 / -0 (edited)

Data centers and a few key staff then. What are the names and titles of those people in a tech company?

Their reliance on always on electricity is an obvious weakness but it is balanced by the damage done to innocents that are just as reliant on electricity.

Twitter hasn’t disclosed publicly where its data centers are located, but according to various reports over the years (including some by Data Center Knowledge), the company has leased large amounts of data center space from RagingWire in Sacramento, California, and from QTS Realty in Atlanta Metro

1
learntocode 1 point ago +1 / -0

How and where does one seize a domain at the network core layer?

2
mty_green_go 2 points ago +2 / -0

you seize the domain through a subpoena to master dns controllers

you seize the network core layer by locating their network infrastructure and taking out their "backbone" of the network, lots of routers and other physical network devices
