You’re talking about a law of sociology. I can’t remember the name of it or who came up with it, but it states that the more democratic and free a country’s name sounds, the more authoritarian it actually is. Present-day examples of socialist and communist countries that follow this:

  • People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria
  • People’s Republic of China
  • Democratic Republic of the Congo
  • Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia
  • Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Laos)
  • Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal
  • Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
  • Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
  • Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste
  • Socialist Republic of Vietnam (at least this one is mostly accurate)

Hmm. So you're saying we need to change our country's name to The Fully Controlled and Subjugated Dominion of America. /taps head

That's what they say to appeal to the masses, but in reality it's an oligarchy of the elites.

Vietnam, ironically enough, is probably one of the "Freer" ones on that list too.
