I see more and more people clambering for this everyday. Last night it hit a fevered pitch with the AP deliberately misquoting Barr.
I feel like we are being pushed to abandon Trump, and eachother, if he doesn't take specific actions RIGHT NOW. I am NOT saying we should be passive, or "trust the plan". But there is more for us to do than just prepare for conflict.
"The President of Peace" is going to try every single non violent option there is before he even thinks about using force. People talk about the Insurrection Act, and that Executive Order from 2018; but even though The President could attempt to use them, he doesn't want to. He's going through the process and seeing how things turn out.
There are still other things that can be done. Faithless electors, Congress, The Senate, and even Pence can still have rolls to play. There have been presidential elections decided only 48 hours before induration.
Oh? Name two, just two, which were settled <48 hrs from inauguration.
I'm thinking of Rutherford B. Hayes vs. Samuel Tilden in 1876.
It was really similar to what's going on now. There was a lot of voter fraud being claimed. Congress selected a special commission to sort through everything. The one-vote Republican majority of the commission decided all the disputed Electoral votes in 3 states would go to Hayes, giving him a 1 point victory. The decision happened two days before the inauguration.
So it can happen as long as people, especially congressmen in that instance, remain strong.
I was aware of the Jackson/Adams election dispute, but Hayes v. Tilden dispute was unknown to me. Thank you. I learned something new.
