Somebody once told me that the UN building doesn't meet NYC building codes, but it was granted exempt status. It's horribly inefficient when it comes to heating and cooling, and when FDNY inspected it a few months after the 9/11 attacks they found over 800 fire code violations. If the UN ever leaves US soil, it's likely the UN building will be demolished because it's sitting on prime real estate.
