And apparently his rapping wasn't very good either. It was corny. Like he had some okay internal rhyme schemes but he really needed to work on his delivery for sure. That's probably the one and only thing the degenerate Hamilton play depicted historically accurately.
What is up with the Hamilton play? Iāve never seen it, and I know liberals lose their minds over it, which makes me never want to see it. Why did they use POC for every single role? What is their retarded reason for that?
You mean you wouldn't cast the entire offensive line of the Baltimore Ravens to play the founding fathers fam? Sounding a little discriminatory there.
The left has this retarded idea that if POC don't see POC in roles it's excluding. So even in a play full of figures the left brings up were White men who owned slaves 24/7 they still can't depict them all as White. This is a projection because liberals always have to feel like something is about them and they'll complain if they aren't pandered to. Like when they complain a show or sketch doesn't go woke enough or the like. There's plenty of POC that simply do not care and enjoy something without a show going on some racist assumption that they'd only like so-and-so because they are poc.
But I mean you can make a play however you want, but lmao it is funny how hard they try. It's like a ghetto alternate universe America and a Boondocks episode where Charlie Murphy is voicing Thomas Jefferson or some shit. There's comedic value to that alone tbh but it would be funnier if they didn't take it so damn seriously.
Thank you for this response. I have been curious about this play for ages but never had the stomach to watch it because I donāt support the bastardization of our history. This is a perfect summary.
I know people who love musicals and I know people who love cringey left wing propaganda. Itās the latter group who loved Hamilton.
I guarantee at least half the people who saw it thought it was dumb. But if you ask them if they liked it their brain will interpret it as āare you racist?ā and therefore the only response they can give is to enthusiastically express support for it
There are honestly some good moments in Hamilton. To the point where it wouldnāt be woke enough and NEVER would have happened today. Listen to The Room Where it Happens. Itās so apropos to what we are dealing with in this election. But no itās not completely historically accurate and the POC thing is Ok but they exclude whites. Which is just weird.
Disclaimer: I've only seen the version on Disney+, and the following is my opinion.
I agree with NotakTheWiser. It's extremely overrated, not to mention that it went to extremes to "colorize" and "re-culturize" the story of the Founding. Beyond that, it's extremely forgettable as far as a musical/play goes.
Ironically, the greatest character (by far) was a white guy: King George. My next favorite was George Washington... because it's George Washington (I'm so glad they didn't destroy his character).
Jefferson had swag (the real Jefferson deserves the accolades, for sure), and it makes you root for him against Hamilton at every point... then again, Hamilton was presented just so terribly that you'd be rooting for Joe Biden over him (more on that later). The problem I had with Jefferson is that he may have had too much swag (or at least the type that makes him seem too childish and immature for such an enlightened man). Also, the same actor play a Frenchmen earlier in the play... which was played as a cartoonish comedic role... which was appropriate for a Frenchman, but not for an American Founding Father.
Now, back to Alexander Hamilton... his character was absolutely atrocious! I'm not a fan of the real Hamilton, so this play/portrayal didn't improve my liking of him any. Let's just say that Hamilton is a prime example of how being the writer/producer comes with benefits. Lin-Manuel Miranda is absolutely terrible. He can't sing, he can't act, and he can't write music worth a dime. For the whole play, I was scratching my head how he was even on the stage, little on the titular character... then, I found out he was the boss man. Let's just say this... whatever awards he got for Hamilton, he deserved them about as much as Obama deserved the Nobel prize.
As, for the music, there were only one or two songs that are even pleasant or get stuck in your head (one being King George's theme). The rest were humdrum or worse (I am NOT a fan of rap/hip-hop). I honestly don't remember Hamilton actually singing a single note. I don't even know what he does... call it rap or whatever, but it's like he just speaks his lines in rhythm with music... it's bad. I can easily say that the two women outclass everyone vocally.
Am I glad I watched it? I am glad that I saw it so I know what it is. If you have Disney+ already, and can watch it with no further cost, I'd recommend watching it also when you have nothing better to do. You may get a kick out of King George or so (and yes, I would watch a full musical of just him). But if you're wanting to watch a musical, and you're in a patriotic mood, I'd go with 1776 instead. It may be older and stuffy, but there are times where you can really feel the weight of the decisions and consequences the Founders were dealing with. At least it was a celebration of America and Liberty.
I enjoyed it overall - I donāt like the Angelica character and I agree with your assess of Jefferson. But youāre spot on with LMM. The songs are catchy, but heās the weak link. Would have loved to see a different actor as Hamilton. Jonathan Groff is the best person on stage and I love his song, itās SO good. āI will kill your friends and family, to remind you of my loveā š I also like Leslie Odom Jr a lot and I listen to āThe room where it happensā all the time at home.
Ok, you may have just convinced me to give it a watch. Haha. Iām ashamed to admit that we still are paying for Disney+, so might as well watch it.
Great review, btw. Itās almost comical how different your opinion is than liberal cucks Iāve heard discuss it, who go on and on about how they canāt stop listening to the soundtrack and how aMaZiNg Lin Manuel is.

True, true. Dumb question.

So it's in blackface. The new minstrel theater.
I'm kinda bummed on some level that covid wasn't actually anything serious because it would take out a lot of idiots

Interesting. So the plot line wasn't bastardized?
